The essence of government, by virtue of the social contract concept, is to, amongst others, safeguard and promote citizens’ rights and interests. These have been done in many ways, like the provision of lifelines to banks, farmers, borehole to settlements, etc.
Herders contribute to the economy of Nigeria and, hence, are entitled to what accrues from the essence of governance, including the establishment of cattle colonies, if it is deemed proper. Support should be accorded the goverment to try out the practice.
