Sixteen amateur teams will vie for honours at the maiden Bolanle Ambode Women’s Football Championship, which begins on Wednesday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Papa Queens battle Dream Stars Ladies Feeders in the opening match of the grassroots tournament put together by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Sports in honour of the wife of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, for her support for football and sports in general.
In other matches, Jagunmolu Queens will face Kadesh Queens, Vision Queens square up against Royal Tom Queens and Lakeside Queens do battle with Jojo Queens.
The competition, which ends on April 29, was conceived to give talented girls the opportunity to showcase their skills. First, second and third placed teams will get N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 respectively.
