The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said on Monday that it would invest N475 billion in the execution of various projects in Nigeria from 2015 to 2019.
Ms Josephine Kamara, the agency’s Senior Development Outreach and Communications Specialist, said this in Abuja during an interview with NAN.
She told NAN that the Agency was investing the figure over a five-year period.
Kamara said USAID, as a major player in advancing Nigeria’s economic and social development, would help the leadership to create jobs, improve education, advance agriculture and promote better healthcare.
She said USAID was working closely with its Nigerian counterparts to expand access to electricity empower more Nigerians.
Kamara also said that USAID was working with Local Government Authorities to help more people get access to water.
According to her, the agency was also active in the North-East Nigeria where it was assisting the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
“In the north-east, USAID is working with local partners to provide emergency assistance to Internally Displaced Persons both in settlements and in host communities,” she said.
