On May 23, a four-year-old had an unpalatable experience with the Police at the car park of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
During the encounter, he — and his mum — was shoved, an action he thought was “unkind” of the policeman.
After crying his heart out, he finally penned a note on the experience — in the hope that it “does not happen again”.
He wrote:
We were going home from a day at the airport, when suddenly a police officer offended me. He was holding a baton, wearing a cap and a police uniform like most police do.
Then, he shoved me. My mom shoved him back and told him it was a man wearing green (a security officer at the airport) that told us to park there. One police officer wasn’t being kind to my mom, grandma and I.
Police officers should be life savers. Also, they should be people who correct people. Instead, they shoved…
