FG to sanction returning travelers who fled quarantine facilities

The Federal Government has vowed to punish returning foreign passengers who fled quarantine facilities and violated the compulsory requirement. 

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha who made the announcement at the resumed briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday May 10, said the decision became necessary after they received reports of some persons who recently returned to the country violating the mandatory quarantine requirement under the advisory by escaping from the facilities.

He said the PSC has also considered several pre-emptive measures to be taken to mitigate the likely impact of the variants of concern, should they get imported into Nigeria.
