Four men — Wasiu Waheed (20), Olajide Abeeb (28), Ifeanyi Nwode (25) and John Ohakwe (26) — were on Friday brought before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged membership of a secret cult, known as “Eiye Confraternity’’.
The accused, who all reside at Ikorodu area of Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and belonging to an unlawful society, to which they pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie, the accused committed the offences with some others persons still at large, on Dec. 1, at about 6:00 p.m., at Ikorodu.
Ihiehie said that the accused were arrested by policemen during a fight with a faction of their cult known as ” Eiye confraternity”.
“The DPO had to discharge some policemen to the scene, and the accused persons were arrested, while others fled,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 42(a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
