COVID-19: 74,999 Samples Tested In 100 Days – NCDC

74,999 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) report revealed.

Of the 74,999 cases tested, 11, 844 have been confirmed with Lagos State recording the highest number at 5,663.

According to the report, eight other states, including the FCT have recorded 300 more cases.

Nigeria confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on 27th of February 2020, making it 100 days today.

NCDC, in a statement, said prior to the confirmation of the first case, it had  supported four laboratories within its molecular laboratory network to activate testing for COVID-19.

It said since then, the number of laboratories has increased to 30, with a combined minimum capacity of 10,000 tests daily.

The goal, NCDC said  is to expand to at least 10 more laboratories by the end of June, leveraging on Gene-Xpert capacity for Tuberculosis diagnosis.
